Hello everyone! This is Shad from the Extra Mods Network. Today I'm here to talk to you a little bit about the new 1.5 update for Extra Ores - Starstruck. Starstruck is a really interesting update because whilst still adding materials like the other updates, their uses are far from the same. In this post we'll be going through some of the behind-the-scenes content as well as some sneak peeks from the update so far. Remember, this update will go live sometime after we hit 10,000 downloads on the Extra Ores CurseForge page so if you haven't already, go download it - https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/extra-colours-extra-mods First of all, we'll talk about the actual theme of the new update. So this update, as the name suggests, is about stars and light. Well it's not just that. There is as a side of darkness involved to counteract the light. Where you find light, there must also be dark. Our first new mob type added by this update is the Blight. Now the Blight comes in two forms, the Star Blight and the Dusk Blight. In this image below, you can see the environments these Blights spawn in and also a little bit of a preview into how they are physically.
Now, as demonstrated by the picture, there are clearly some new blocks added in this update. I won't spoil all of it for you but I will let you into a little bit of a secret. On the left we see the Starlight block range. This includes stairs, slabs, walls, and the all new block type, the pillar. On the left we have the Dusklight block range. These also include stairs, slabs, walls and pillars. Within these mini structures - that you will be able to find within the world - are chests holding mysterious items, but I'll let you figure out what those are for yourself.
Our next topic is also a block based one but of a different form. In this update, we once again are introduced to two new crafting stations within the Extra Ores mod. These being the Sun Pool and the Moon Pool.
As you can see by this image, they are very matching to their name. On the left we have the Sun Pool sat proudly on a block of Star Metal, and on the right we have the Moon Pool sat prosperously on a block of Dusk Metal. Now as I mentioned above, these are both crafting stations so you may be asking me "well what do they craft?" In response to that I say you've found the right person to tell you! Each at this point in time only craft two items. The first item they craft are Star Metal and Dusk Metal ingots. Until you've crafted these forges, the only way of you obtaining either Star Metal or Dusk Metal is through the random structures dotted underground, above ground, and the sky. Yes, I said the sky. If you look close enough, you may end up spotting a twinkling structure in the sky that may end up holding some valuable treasures. Once you obtain these forges, we go back to our "blightful" friends from before. Killing a Star Blight will reward you with 1-3 Stardust which when combined with an iron ingot in the Sun Pool will grant you 1 Star Metal Ingot. Killing a Dusk Blight will give you 1-3 Dusk Dust which when paired with an iron ingot in the Moon Pool, will reward you with 1 Dusk Metal Ingot.
This update holds, of course, a bunch of new features, systems, blocks, items, and more. So much so that there isn't enough time in the world for me to write about it. Due to that reason, you'll have to explore the rest of the update for yourself when it comes out.
